Cambodia has passionate young basketball players with enormous potential — but very limited access to proper facilities and structured development programs. Across Phnom Penh and the rest of the country, most available courts are outdoor, undersized, or too expensive for youth to use regularly. As a result, many talented young athletes never get the opportunity to develop their skills, and Cambodia remains ranked 153rd in the world by FIBA.

This fundraiser supports the creation of Cambodia’s First Student Athlete Basketball Academy, organized and led by SEAJBL Singapore (Southeast Asia Junior Basketball League). SEAJBL is working to build a safe, structured indoor basketball environment in Phnom Penh where young people can train as athletes while also growing as students and leaders.

The academy will provide year-round access to proper basketball facilities, affordable youth development programs, and structured training led by qualified coaches. In addition to basketball training, the academy will include academic support through a tutoring and learning centre, reinforcing the importance of education alongside sport.

Beyond being a sports facility, the academy will serve as a central hub for Cambodia’s basketball community — supporting schools, clubs, and youth programs while creating clear development pathways for young Cambodian athletes to pursue opportunities locally and internationally.

This initiative is part of SEAJBL Singapore’s broader mission to grow structured junior basketball programs across Southeast Asia and create meaningful pathways for youth development.
