¡Hola!, gracias por leerme.

Mi nombre es Juan Manuel Cortés Amariles y estoy acá para contarles parte de mi vida… bueno, exactamente hablarles de un deporte que se cruzó en mi destino y transformó mi vida, un deporte que me ha permitido llegar a diferentes lugares del mundo y conocer gente maravillosa - EL ULTIMATE FRISBEE-

A inicios del mes de abril del 2024, fui seleccionado como jugador oficial de la Selección Colombia, (la competencia más importante para un deportista elite), así que este año me preparo para participar en el Mundial de Naciones que tendrá lugar en Gold Coast, Australia, que inicia el 1 de septiembre de este año, donde competiré contra las selecciones de los mejores países de esta disciplina. 

Tenía 13 años cuando empecé con el Ultimate Frisbee y once años después, he logrado participar en 4 mundiales - 2 representando a la Selección Colombia Junior y sub 24, y 2 representando a mi club deportivo EUFORIA -  actualmente también tengo el orgullo de ser Director Técnico de MACANA, actuales campeonas nacionales de Ultimate Frisbee en Colombia.

Desafortunadamente este deporte no es apoyado económicamente en mi país, por eso cada deportista es responsable de financiarse las competiciones en las que desea participar, sumando  la exigencia y competencia que hay que mantener internamente para lograr el puesto deseado. Soy consciente de que el reconocimiento del deporte en Colombia, es un trabajo constante, y deseo expresarle a la comunidad que existen otros deportes, como el Ultimate Frisbee que construye pasiones, inculca disciplina y valores deportivos. Estoy convencido que poder participar en la competencia más importante del año, me permitirá aprender cada vez más, para ser ejemplo en la enseñanza de mi deporte, porque deseo llegar a las comunidades más jóvenes para decirles que sí se puede, que sí vale el esfuerzo y amor por lo que hacemos, que el deporte también es una herramienta para retarse y explorarse como seres humanos, porque estoy convencido que lo ha hecho conmigo.

My name is Juan Manuel Cortés Amariles and I'm here to tell you a bit about my life. More specifically, I would like to tell you about a sport that crossed my destiny and transformed my life, a sport that has allowed me to travel to different places in the world and meet wonderful people - ULTIMATE FRISBEE.

At the beginning of April 2024, I was selected as an official player of the Colombian National Team, (the most important competition for an elite athlete), so this year I am getting ready to participate in the World Cup of Nations to be held in Gold Coast, Australia from September 1st. I will compete against the teams of the best countries in this discipline.

I was only 13 years old when I started Ultimate Frisbee and eleven years later I have managed to participate in 4 world championships - 2 representing the Colombian Junior and Sub24 National teams, and 2 representing my sports club, EUFORIA - currently I am also proud to be the Technical Director of MACANA, current female national champions of Ultimate Frisbee in Colombia.

Unfortunately this sport is not financially supported in my country, so each athlete is responsible for financing the competitions in which he/she/their wishes to participate. This on top of the added demand and competition that we must keep up with through out the year to achieve the desired top position. I am aware that the recognition of the different sports in Colombia is a work in progress, and I wish to express to the community that there are other sports, such as Ultimate Frisbee that are passionate, instills discipline and precious sporting values. I am convinced that being able to participate in the most important competition of the year, will allow me to keep learning and more importantly, will help me serve my goal of being seen as an example when teaching the sport, because I would love to reach the younger generations to tell them that; yes they can do it, that it is worth the effort and love for what we do, that this noble sport serves also to challenge and explore ourselves as human beings, because I am convinced that this it what has managed to do to me.
