I am Connelly Smith, and I am privileged to have been selected for a position on the CSRA Heat 14 Gold travel volleyball team. I am 13 years old and in the 8th grade. This is my second season playing club travel volleyball. During my first season playing last year, I knew I had found my passion. I took a faith leap as a volleyball rookie, believed in both my abilities and potential and I competed for a position on the 2018 Lakeside High School junior varsity team and I made it! I played HIGH SCHOOL volleyball as an 8th grade middle school student! Yay me!!

Please help support my second season in club travel volleyball. Last year I played on the BLACK level club team, but this season I was selected to move up to a higher skill bracket and will play on the 14U GOLD/POWER team. Yay me!

Your help goes towards club fees, travel costs and dues to an intensive skills summer camp held on a college campus. My position is middle blocker. I am 5'9" and I'm still growing!

This season I was again voted team co-captain by my teammates. What an honor for a newbie. I am focusing on maintaining honor roll grades in my 4 advanced placement classes, continuing to work hard and improve in volleyball, and also striving to be a leader both on and off the court. Most important, I am attempting to be more responsible and to help my mom with my costly volleyball expenses as she is my number one fan and my number one supporter, chaperone, nutritionist and chauffeur. I love my mom. I would very much appreciate your support to help me continue my volleyball dreams and goals. Every amount is welcomed and appreciated. Please share with your family, friends, network - all who may be interested in the empowerment of girls, volleyball, and anyone who may want to help me succeed. A study by the Women’s Sports Foundation found that girls who participate in sports:
● Are more likely to get better grades
● Are more likely to graduate
● Reduce their risk of breast cancer with just 4 hours of exercise per week
● Have higher levels of confidence and self esteem
● Have lower levels of depression
● Have a more positive body image
● Experience higher levels of psychological well-being
● Gain critical workplace skills as they learn about teamwork, goal-setting and the pursuit of excellence

Thank you and blessings,
Connelly #20
